Passenger Safety

Car Seat Program

CCHD offers car seat checks throughout the year at various locations in the community. Technicians will assist families with installation of the seat, using either the LATCH system or the seat belt.  Guidance will be given on how to correctly secure the child in the car seat, including how tight the harness should be, which harness slots should be used and correct positioning of the harness clip.

Clients can also schedule car seat checks in the office on a daily basis.
City-County Health offers car seat education and car seats to families.  Parents must review video information prior to receiving a car seat.  Available car seats include convertible, forward facing and booster seats.  A minimal donation is requested for the car seats.  No loan program for car seats is available. No rental program available. Allow for 1 hour of time to receive car seat information and instructions.
