Each year ON THE MOVE partners with the local Farmers Market one day to offer a tasting event for the community.  The ON THE MOVE partners choose a healthy vegetable recipe to prepare and the farmers market vendors donate all of the produce for the event.

The ON THE MOVE partners prepare the food at the local hospital kitchen (one of the ON THE MOVE partner organizations) and they also help serve the free samples to everyone that visits the farmers market that day.













Some of the recipes served throughout the years have included Bruschetta with Tomatoes and Basil, Festive Bean Salsa Salad, Sizzling Fresh Veggie Medley, Grilled Vegetable Kabobs and Chicken Kabobs, Spinach and Pear Salad and Eggplant Pasta Salad or Casserole.

The fruits and veggies available at the Farmers Market are locally grown and picked the same day when they are perfectly ripened.  This enhances the taste, texture and aroma of the produce.  Because the produce is picked at the peak of its season, there are abundant nutrients available that offer a host of health benefits.  Eating a variety of fruits and veggies may help reduce the risk of many diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure and some cancers.  Fruits and veggies are low in calories and a great source of fiber which can help us to maintain a healthy weight because it keeps one feeling full longer.

The Farmers Market is open Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Rosebud Visitors Center parking lot and each Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Shopko parking lot through October, weather permitting.
